About Us

Fiction Dance was founded in 2008 by dance teacher and choreographer Jo Bakhurst.
Fiction dance offers classes in Ballet/Tap,Street Dance,Drama and also has a special Fiction Dance Juniors session for younger dancers aged 3-5years.
We focus on teaching skills to enthusiastic students of all levels and ages.
Our classes are a great opportunity to meet new people also interested in performing arts and also to build confidence on and off stage.
We are always looking for performance opportunities and have taken part in events with Big Dance and London Youth Dance.

Examinations

At Fiction Dance, examinations are not compulsory, however, students are encouraged to take their Street Dance exams with the IDTA.
The International Dance Teachers Association is a leading dance teaching and examination board based in Brighton. The IDTA is one of the largest dance teaching organisations in the world. It is a validated dance awarding body of the Council for Dance Education and Training and is also affiliated to the British Dance Council, the Central Council of Physical Recreation and the Theatre Dance Council International. The IDTA also works in partnership with the Royal Academy of Dance.

 Arts Award

Students can also attain their Arts Award at Fiction Dance
The Arts Award is a qualification offered at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the qualifications and credit framework. It assesses how young people develop in their chosen arts activities rather than achievement of a specific skill level; they can gain awards through work in any art form.
